Are you dreaming of a White Christmas… or an Evil Blizzard this December?

After a two-year absence, EVIL BLIZZARD are back to kick-off the holiday season with an almighty bang. Today, we announce the return of one notoriously twisted office Christmas party…

The cult Lancashire band famed for their fearsome stage apparel and outrageous performances will be headlining a one-off home county gig at their favourite venue in Manchester: Academy 3. They said there’d be snow at Christmas, but they never said there’d be chaos. Expect an unruly performance from one of the UK’s most joyously boundary-pushing and convention-breaking bands to emerge in recent times.

Preston’s Evil Blizzard are truly an enigma. Four bass players, a singing drummer. An array of rubber masks that will give both children and adults sleepless nights for days on end – they have a hard-earned reputation as one of the most ingenious and charismatic live experiences on the music scene today. And this ‘Blizzmass’ promises to be no different.

While many shocks and surprises planned for the gig are still currently under wraps, the band can confirm that ‘Blizzmass’ will be an opportunity for fans to see their new-look line-up in action. Following the departure of original member Kav (Dave Kavanagh), his worthy replacement ‘Fleshcrawl’ will be unveiled at the show. The alias of former Hawkwind bassist/singer and long-time friend of the band Mr Dibs; Fleshcrawl promises to continue Kav’s sterling service. The re-jig of the Blizzard will also see Filthy Dirty dropping his bass to find a new role as the band’s all-important guitarist and backing vocalist.

The announcement of ‘Blizzmass’ follows a year of highs for Evil Blizzard. In 2019, the band performed their most prestigious gig to date with a SOLD-OUT headline performance at the Grand Hall in Preston’s Guildhall. A memorable night for all in attendance and one for the history books, Evil Blizzard became the first and subsequently, last Preston band to headline the iconic venue when the Guildhall closed its doors forever shortly after the show. Evil Blizzard, of course, denies all responsibility… In addition, the band also returned to London for the first time in a long while to play at the o2 Academy Islington2. A riotous night, the band were joined by The Fierce & The Dead and Michael, the latter of whom released his debut album Tell Your Friends on Filthy Dirty of Evil Blizzard’s record label, Cracked Ankles.

Fast forward to 2020, and Evil Blizzard are already plotting a suitably malignant return ripe for a new decade of deviance ahead. Refreshed with a new line-up in the interim and now raring to go, the band will play a slew of festivals throughout the summer and have hatched plans to revive their two fiendishly festive shows “Blizzoween” (taking place in Leeds this Halloween) and the aforementioned “Blizzmass” at Manchester Academy 3 this December; a guaranteed night of noise and nonsense.

And since it’s Christmas, Evil Blizzard will be gifting the audience with sets from two choice support acts. Legendary Leeds Psyche / Rock trio BILGE PUMP will be decking the halls with their filthy sounds, plus Manchester’s very own Tamsin Middleton of Liines will be showcasing her new work as VICE VERA; two acts guaranteed to blaze trails through any chilly winter evening.

Preston’s Evil Blizzard are truly an enigma. Four bass players, a singing drummer.  An array of rubber masks that will give both children and adults sleepless nights for days on end – they are the most ingenious and charismatic live experience on the music scene today.

Following on from the critically acclaimed debut release “The Dangers of Evil Blizzard”, the follow up ‘Everybody come to Church’, the band’s most recent album ‘Worst Show on Earth’ gained rave reviews upon its release in 2018.

Evil Blizzard delve into many musical wells. Mixing their musical heritage from early Sabbath, Dub & krautrock through to more modern and diverse contemporaries such as Hawkwind.

Public Image Limited and Killing Joke (The latter two even personally asking for Evil Blizzard to open for them). It appears that no musical genre is sate from their reach.

After opening tor such eclectic bands as Space, Sleaford Mods, Ruts DC, Gnod, Hawkwind, Killing Joke, Public Image Limited, Bo Ningen and Embrace.

Blizzard have not only won over some very hard-line partisan crowds, but they have also gone on to conquer such music festivals as Kendal Calling, Super-sonic, Rebellion, The Great British Alternative Music Festival, Supernormal and The International Festival of Psychedelia in Liverpool.
