INNERCITY LIVE BIRMINGHAM PRESENTS…
THE FLAMING LIPS
With Special Guests…
PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING
+ ANNOUNCING FURTHER SPECIAL GUESTS
+ HOOPLA BLUE
@ THE RAINBOW OPEN AIR ARENA, BIRMINGHAM
SATURDAY 12th AUGUST 2017
This Summer, INNERCITY LIVE BIRMINGHAM looks to put senses into overload with a night of exceptional live music and extraordinary visuals with THE FLAMING LIPS, plus special guests PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING.
And now we are delighted to just reveal further special guests joining the bill: AMBER RUN and HOOPLA BLUE.
On Saturday 12th August 2017, neo-psychedelic extraordinaires The Flaming Lips will be cramming their flight cases with their finest fancy dress, confetti cannons and whacked-out visuals as they head to the The Rainbow Open Air Arena with a face-melting live performance in mind.
Currently out on the road with their horizon bending ‘Oczy Mlody’ album, Wayne Coyne and his rag tag bunch of musical mystics will descend on the city with a set loaded with prismatic pop curiosities from their latest record, whilst taking you for a whirl through some of their oddball opuses such as “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots”, “Do you Realize???”, “Race For The Prize”, “Fight Test” and on…
Also looking to expand your mind that evening, though perhaps in a somewhat less kaleidoscopic manner, Public Service Broadcasting join the bill to Inform, Educate and Entertain with a sample-tastic set of their beguiling brainiac pop. As the interstellar overdrive of their epic ‘The Race For Space’ tour draws to a close, the pseudonymous duo made up of J Wilgoose Esq. and Wrigglesworth will be charting a course for home via Birmingham to blast through their scintillating singles the likes ‘Gagarin’, ‘Spitfire’, ‘Sputnik’ and more.
Plus, we are now delighted to announce additional support on the day will come with a dose of Midlands indie rock expertise from Amber Run. Riding high on their acclaimed sophomore album “For A Moment, I Was Lost” released earlier this year the band promise a set packed with moments of expansive beauty & full-blooded raw emotion.
And placing a delightfully more-ish cherry on of this tasty spectacle, emerging local heroes Hoopla Blue will be flying the flag for fresh new Birmingham talent on the bill. With BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson already describing the band as “Ridiculously gifted” – make sure you’re in early doors to catch the four piece unfurl their delectably intricate astral pop.
Taking place at The Rainbow Open Air Arena in the Digbeth area of the city, tickets for the event will be available on General Sale on Wednesday 1st March at 9am. Full details as follows:
