TAKES ELECTRONIC TURN WITH NEW SINGLE:Â Â âJOYPOLISâ
LATEST FROM UPCOMING THIRD SOLO RECORD:âLA LA LAâ OUT 16 JULY 2021
JOHNNY LLOYD is back with his new single, âJoypolisâ.
Revealing a more electronic side to any of his previous work, the track is extracted from his upcoming third solo album: âLa La Laâ (out 16th July 2021, via Xtra Mile Recordings).
A chillwave-tinged track sequined with birdsong samples, fluttering synthesisers and vo-coded vocals, âJoypolisâ sees Johnny making a natural progression into the worlds of Washed Out, The Postal Service or Toro y Moi.Â
Through sage advice and tense response, the song unwinds a narrative of a complex and enigmatic romance told through an imagined conversation between two characters. As constructive sentiments like âYouâve got to help yourself, you canât just keep it insideâ are met with blunt refusals like âI donât need your helpâ, âJoypolisâ constructs a vivid and evocative snapshot of a relationship slipping away and the wave of feelings that come with it.
Like a love song from the distant future, its pulsing arrangements, inherent mystery and dopamine-laced choral refrain: âLove is a chemical and itâs rushing in my bloodâ will invite repeated listens.
âJoypolisâ is the second single to be taken from âLa La Laâ, Johnnyâs third official album and second record of 2021, following his recent soundtrack for âRare Beastsâ (created with Nathan Coen). The latest album will feature 14 brand new tracks, produced by Max Clilverd, Johnny and Nathan Coen and further mixed and mastered by Frank Turner.
Evidence of an artist continuing to push himself musically, creatively and positively, the record will be released on all platforms from 16th July 2021. New single âJoypolisâ is out now.
