SEA FEVER

ANNOUNCE RUN OF UK SHOWS THIS JUNE

===
SEA FEVER will be performing a special run of shows in London, Manchester and Hebden Bridge this June.

A breath-taking new band fronted by Iwan Gronow (Haven, Johnny Marr) on vocals and guitars alongside singer Bethany Cassidy (Section 25), SEA FEVER fuses intelligent electronics with classic melodies and chiming guitars, underpinned by soaring, hypnotic strings. Formed in 2019, the band also features New Order’s Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham – with Tom on bass, guitars, synths and programming, and Phil on guitars. Powering the band’s pulsing beats is Elliot Barlow, who is joined on the band’s first studio outing by New Order drummer, Stephen Morris.

A sum of all their parts, SEA FEVER’s resultant sound is one of upbeat pop that makes waves alongside wistful descending minor chords and surf guitars. Teutonic rhythms kling and klang their way against echoing layers of melancholy and hope. Explaining how SEA FEVER came together, Iwan says:

“We’d wanted to work with each other for ages, so when we finally sat down in the studio, the band just seemed to come together naturally.”

Releasing ‘Folding Lines’ in 2021, SEA FEVER delivered a ten-track debut album representative of a band instinctively working together; effortlessly exciting and equally timeless. Including recent singles ‘De Facto’, ‘Crossed Wires’, and the title-track ‘Folding Lines’, the album earned support from key tastemaker titles including BBC 6 Music, Louder Than War, God Is In The TV and more.

“It felt like we were really free to explore the kinds of music that have always inspired us,” says Tom of the album, “we dug right through the record crates of our minds to shape the sound of SEA FEVER.”

In 2022, SEA FEVER have fleshed out their live sound and are planning a run of live dates this June, with stops in London, Hebden Bridge and Manchester.

Featuring a headline set from the band, each show will see SEA FEVER joined by three different support artists, from Dublin-based psychedelic dream-pop artist KEELEY in London, to Halifax indie-pop trio WAX-TREE-CAST in Hebden Bridge and Paddy Considine’s RIDING THE LOW and Cumbrian post-punks DEATHRETRO in Manchester. The hometown Manchester show will also see the band joined by friends and collaborators Stephen and Gillian of NEW ORDER who will perform a DJ set in support, plus Chris Hawkins of BBC6 fame will be introducing the band.
