Could be fast. Could make money. Could be a Suicide song. Or a song from under the floorboards. A naive melody in the style of Melody Nelson. Or maybe, it’s the absence of all of those things. Introducing Fast Money Music, the solo project of Nick Hinman.
Pulling from no wave, proto-punk and pop in equal measure, Fast Money Music has released two EPs so far. The first, ‘Strange Moments’, delved into the trials and tribulations of grief, sorrow, hope and redemption, receiving spins from DJs at BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music in the process.
The second, titled ‘Rouge’, was a stroke of raw power and cheeky realism. The project mixed a broadening shade of red into Fast Money Music’s palette of playful vocals, pulsating synths, jagged guitars and wailing saxophone. It also featured contributions from George Daniel and John Waugh, both of the 1975, on drums and saxophone respectively.
Now back in London and back in the studio, Hinman is teaming up with Grammy Award-nominated Mikko Gordon (IDLES, The Smile) to deliver his first full-length LP, which is expected to arrive next year. For those who hope to catch a glimpse of Fast Money Music before then, he’s out on the road this July with Tempesst. The full list of dates is below.
About Fast Money Music
Fast Money Music is the solo project of Nick Hinman, an American-born and East London-based musician and producer, molding his love of post-punk, no wave and pop music into a sound that’s both nostalgic and fiercely modern.
Lauded by Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), Matt Wilkinson (Apple Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X) amongst others, FMM has built a loyal following across two EPs since 2022, with sold-out headline performances across East London venues, a showcase at Supersonic Paris, and a coveted slot at The Great Escape 2025.
With a self-titled debut LP in the works, fans can expect new singles from FMM later this year, with an album releasing in 2026. Fast Money Music hits the road with Tempesst for a UK tour in July 2025, with sold-out shows in Brighton, Birmingham, Leeds and Cardiff.
