UNVEILS NEW REMIX OF EXISTENTIAL-ANTHEM: ‘I DON’T HAVE A CLUE’ (FEAT. BRANDON ROSE)
Today, Scottish pop newcomer Hannah Slavin shares a brand new remix of her new existential-anthem ‘I Don’t Have A Clue’ featuring Michigan-born rapper and multi-instrumentalist Brandon Rose.
Recently tipped by the likes of The Line of Best Fit, LOCK Magazine, PopMatters and many more – ‘I Don’t Have A Clue’ finds Hannah taking cues from the worlds of RnB, soul and modern-pop as she questions her own thoughts and purpose in life.
The new mix, released today features Michigan’s Brandon Rose. Now an established producer, writer, singer and rapper, Rose began playing the bass guitar for his Detroit-based mega-church at the tender age of five, and soon became sponsored by the highest selling bass guitar brand in the industry. Rose has since traveled the world performing with the likes of Etienne Charles, Diego Rivera, his mentor Marcus Miller, and many other talented artists.
“I am obsessed with Charlie Puth and was stalking some of his Tik Tok videos one day when I came across Brandon Rose who dueted one of his songs. I could not stop listening to his version and was completely blown away. I was in the middle of finishing ‘I Don’t Have a Clue’ and I sent it over to him to see if he’d be keen to do a verse on it. He sent it back to me the next day and the rest is history!” tells Hannah.
As a writer, Brandon’s compositions are inspired by his experiences with love and love lost, social movement’s and injustices, and the ongoing battle for equality. Speaking about working with Hannah on ‘I Don’t Have a Clue’, Brandon explains:
“‘I Don’t Have A Clue’ hits home for me as I am a recent college graduate adjusting to life outside of school. Being a full time musician now I’ve definitely had moments where I really don’t have a clue what I’m doing, but amidst my cluelessness I still choose to do something and at the very least keep moving forward!
Everything from how the music is sonically put together to the lyrics throughout the song truly provides comfort for me in knowing that I’m not the only one trying to figure life out. I’m both honored and excited to have collaborated on the remix of ‘I Don’t Have A Clue’ and I hope everybody that listens to it realizes that it’s okay to not have a clue sometimes and still be present, enjoying the beauty of life. Embrace the fog, keep moving forward, and eventually you’ll end up right where you’re supposed to be!”
Occupying a space somewhere in the middle of Sigrid & LOVA meets Baby Queen & ELIO, Hannah may have already made a name for herself as the winner of BBC One’s Pitch Battle, where she performed alongside Will Young and Kelis; but it’s her anthemic-tendencies and lyrical ability to capture the feelings of an entire generation which are set to see her soar.
Tipped by BBC Introducing as one of their ‘Ones To Watch’ in 2020, the rising star has supported the likes of Mae Muller and Lauran Hibberd, played festival slots at Dot to Dot Festival and Belladrum Festival and garnered acclaim from names like The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Earmilk, LOCK Magazine and PopMatters.
